Blending dreamy elements of indie folk and experimental chamber pop, 'Maintenance Phase' is a gloriously languid song about being overwhelmed by anxiety and burnout - finding yourself in a period of malaise where you can only manage basic self-care. It’s about sinking into the couch and losing all track of the days passing, but yearning for something more.

“I wanted to explore my own experiences of hitting very low points - times when all parts of life have felt overwhelming and I’ve found myself turning inwards away from the world - and then transform that feeling of being stuck and anxious into something delicious and cathartic. A song that sits right inside the wall of gloom, and yet relishes in some of the sad-girl absurdity and melodrama.

Is it about depression? Yes. About wanting more from myself? Yes, but it’s also about trying to be gentle and forgiving towards myself. Accepting my own limitations and how I’m feeling in any one moment - it’s just the maintenance phase, so I’ll do my best to ride it out. None of us are more than human, and that can be a wonderfully humbling and freeing thing to realise."
